Despite disruptions, the Lok Sabha passed the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, on Wednesday during the Winter Session. The amendment grants statutory powers to the Railway Board. It allows the central govt to determine the Board’s composition, including members’ qualifications, experience, and terms of service, aiming to improve its functioning and independence.
