The three-day Jallikattu event in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, began on Tuesday in Avaniyapuram, featuring 1,100 bulls and 900 tamers. The top bull wins a tractor worth ₹11 lakh, and the best tamer receives a car worth ₹8 lakh. Events at Palamedu and Alanganallur will follow on January 15 and 16.
