A 14-year-old Dalit girl in Uttar Pradesh died by suicide on February 18 after her 25-year-old molester, Lavlesh Kumar, was released on bail and threatened to kill her unless the family withdrew the complaint. He had molested her on January 10, hurling casteist slurs. Kumar was rearrested on February 20 under BNS and SC/ST Act sections.
