IMD Issues Red Alert For Kerala Districts Amid Heavy Rainfall

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts in Kerala due to heavy rainfall caused by a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The red alert indicates extremely heavy rainfall of over 20 cm in 24 hours. An orange alert is in effect for other districts, with a yellow alert for additional areas.
