High Alert! Delhi Becomes World’s FastestSinking City

Delhi, the capital of India, is now the fastest-sinking city in the world, as per a recent study published in the journal ‘Nature’. The city is sinking at an average rate of 51 millimeters per year, due to excessive groundwater extraction. This alarming trend puts thousands of buildings and around 1.7 million residents at risk, the study warns.
