The parents of a trainee doctor who was tragically raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata have made alarming allegations, suggesting that the accused, Sanjoy Roy, was hired by someone to carry out the crime. Roy, a civic volunteer associated with the Kolkata Police, was arrested on August 10, just a day after the discovery of the victim’s semi-naked body in a seminar hall. An autopsy confirmed that she had been both raped and murdered.
In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak Bangla, the mother of the deceased claimed that her daughter was targeted because she had uncovered “some dark secrets.” She expressed her anguish over the spread of false information about her daughter on social media, stating, “Sanjoy was deployed by someone to kill our daughter. My daughter must have cried out for me when such things were happening with her.”
The mother also criticized Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, for not reaching out to apologize after the incident. She recounted her daughter’s fears of failing her MD exam due to pressure from Ghosh, revealing that her daughter’s last words were about her food arriving.
Furthermore, she highlighted the family’s distress over the delay in viewing their daughter’s body, questioning why it took so long for hospital authorities to show it. The family is demanding justice, and their claims have sparked widespread outrage and protests across India, with many calling for stricter laws to protect women and healthcare workers.
