In a shocking incident, Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old accused in the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, has confessed to the crime during police questioning. Shah, who had consumed alcohol at two bars before the incident, rammed his BMW into a two-wheeler in Worli on July 7, killing a 45-year-old woman who was riding pillion.
According to the investigation, Shah had been enjoying a joyride on Marine Drive with his friend Rajrishi Bidawat when the accident occurred. Despite being aware that the woman was stuck in one of the car’s tires after the crash, Shah continued driving recklessly and did not stop even when motorists passing by frantically signaled and shouted at him to halt.
To conceal his identity, Shah shaved his beard and trimmed his hair, and the police are investigating whether anyone helped him change his appearance. The luxury car driven by Shah was captured on CCTV cameras at the scene of the accident.
In a shocking revelation, Shah admitted that his career was over following the incident. “My career is over now,” he told the police during interrogation.
Rajesh Shah, the accused’s father, is a Shiv Sena politician from Palghar district and is also an accused in the case. He is currently out on bail.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the issue of reckless driving and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws in the city. Authorities have vowed to take strict action against the accused, ensuring that justice is served and the victim’s family receives the support they need during this difficult time.
