US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell highlighted that the United States has made substantial investments to enhance its strategic partnership with India.
Speaking at the India-US Defence Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) Summit in California, Campbell noted that both Washington and New Delhi have committed time and resources to elevate the bilateral cooperation to new levels.
Kurt Campbell remarked, “In the past year, our partnership has reached ‘escape velocity.'” He emphasized that the United States has made substantial investments to enhance its strategic partnership with India and is committed to a robust agenda for deepening cooperation throughout the year.
This includes not only diplomatic efforts but also the iCET (Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology). The third edition of the INDUS-X summit kicked off on Monday, hosted by the US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF) at Stanford University in California.
Kurt Campbell highlighted that the summit aims to leverage the deep talent and innovative spirit of defense establishments, research institutions, private industry, and startups to foster new ideas, research, and development.
Kurt Campbell asserted that the US and India are “more closely aligned than ever before,” emphasizing their pursuit of an “ambitious agenda” involving summits, joint challenges, and exchanges since the launch of INDUS-X.
Launched on June 21 last year during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington, DC, INDUS-X aims to enhance the strategic and defense partnership between the two countries.
Kurt Campbell expressed confidence that efforts under INDUS-X will persist, given the strong ties between the US and India and the shared strategic challenges they face. He highlighted that INDUS-X will remain a key element in advancing the US-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET).
Launched by Prime Minister Modi and US President Biden during the QUAD summit in Tokyo on May 24, 2022, iCET focuses on critical and emerging technologies.
