Paris, long considered the quintessential romantic city, now ranks second, receiving 33% of the votes. Despite this slight drop, the City of Light remains a strong contender, with its historic charm and iconic landmarks continuing to captivate many hearts. Rounding out the top three is Rome, Italy, which captures 29% of the romantic votes, followed closely by Venice, known for its enchanting canals and gondola rides, at 27%.
The survey also highlights other popular romantic destinations: Cancun, Mexico (19%); Tuscany, Italy (16%); Costa Rica (13%); British Virgin Islands (12%); St. Lucia, Santorini, Greece, and Aspen, Colorado (11% each); New York City and Turks and Caicos (9% each); Provence, France (8%); and the Amalfi Coast, Italy (7%).
Interestingly, the survey reveals that while many dream of these famed destinations, a significant majority (69%) believe that lesser-known, hidden gems offer even greater romance. Furthermore, when it comes to planning, 50% of respondents find spontaneous trips more romantic compared to meticulously planned itineraries, which only 34% prefer.
This trend underscores a shift towards valuing unplanned adventures and personal discovery in creating memorable romantic experiences. Whether it’s the allure of Maui’s beaches or the charm of Parisian streets, it’s clear that romance can be found in both well-trodden paths and hidden retreats.
