A study led by Dr. Thomas Costello at American University found that AI can effectively challenge and reduce conspiracy beliefs. Using “DebunkBot,” which engaged 2,190 participants in discussions about their conspiracy theories, researchers saw a 20% decrease in belief. About one in four participants abandoned their conspiracy belief, with effects lasting at least two months.
