Hyundai, the country’s second-largest carmaker, has made a significant stride in this direction by launching the Hyundai Exter CNG in India. Priced at a starting point of ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Exter Hy-CNG Duo features dual-cylinder technology, a development initially seen in some Tata models. This innovation aims to offer a low running cost while preserving boot space. The Exter Hy-CNG Duo is designed to meet the demands of modern consumers who seek efficiency and space without compromising on performance. Alongside this model, Hyundai is also offering the Exter Hy-CNG with a single-cylinder option, catering to a broader customer base.

Powering the SUV is a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It boasts an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 27.1 Km/kg. The company-fitted CNG system comes with an Integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU), ensuring a seamless driving experience while switching between petrol and CNG modes. In CNG mode, the engine delivers peak power and torque of 69 hp and 95.2 Nm, respectively.
The Exter Hy-CNG Duo is packed with features, including a smart electric sunroof, fully automatic climate control, LED DRLs and tail lamps, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The standard safety kit is comprehensive, featuring six airbags, a TPMS (Highline), electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, and more. Available in three variants—S, SX, and Knight SX—the Exter Hy-CNG Duo offers competitive pricing: ₹8.50 lakh for the entry-spec S trim, ₹9.23 lakh for the SX variant, and ₹9.38 lakh for the top-end Knight SX (all ex-showroom prices). With these offerings, Hyundai aims to cater to consumers seeking sustainable, cost-effective, and feature-rich vehicles.
