The new state-of-the-art International and Domestic Cruise Terminal in Goa, set to open by March 2025, is expected to significantly increase cruise passenger traffic and enhance Goa’s global competitiveness. This development aligns with a 40% rise in cruise traffic at Mormugao Port Authority for the 2023-24 financial year.
The new International and Domestic Cruise Terminal at Mormugao Port in Goa is set to enhance tourism and local infrastructure. Scheduled for completion by March 2025, it will feature 24 immigration counters, 10 check-in counters, and luxury amenities for international travelers.
Highlights include a waiting lounge, an exclusive shopping zone, duty-free retail shops, and a food court. The terminal will cater to both cruise tourists and the general public, boosting Goa’s appeal in the global cruise market.
The domestic cruise terminal at Mormugao Port will feature 12 check-in counters, waiting lounges, and other amenities. An ancillary commercial building will include an experiential shopping zone for cruise tourists, also open to the public.
The new high-end terminal aims to address the rising tourist demand and accommodate increased global cruise liner traffic, signaling significant future growth for the port.
During the 2023-24 financial year, cruise vessel calls increased by 15% and cruise passengers rose by 40% compared to FY 2022-23. On September 12, as the Maritime States Development Council meeting commenced, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal visited the site for the upcoming state-of-the-art International and Domestic Cruise Terminal.
