Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the Tata Group had submitted an application to establish a semiconductor processing factory in the state with an investment of Rs 40,000 crore. “Tata Group has filed an application to establish a Rs. 40,000 crore semiconductor processing factory in Assam. This is going to be revolutionary. In a post on X, the Chief Minister expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ongoing leadership in changing our state. At a gathering held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati earlier in the day, Chief Minister Sarma opened a site to begin the Mukhya Mantri Atmanirbhar Asom application submission process. In her remarks, Chief Minister Sarma stated that the goal of the September 23 launch of the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan was to make Assamese youth self-sufficient and open up opportunities for self-employment. He declared that measures will be implemented under the Abhiyan to enable two lakh young people to start their own businesses. The scheme’s applicants are eligible to receive interest-free government loans in addition to government subsidies totaling Rs 2 lakh in two installments, which they can use to start microbusinesses or service units. Over the course of the next two years, the project aims to serve two lakh eligible individuals, according to the Chief Minister. He declared that Rs. 2 lakh would be awarded to each of the two lakh youth. One lakh rupees will be provided as a government subsidy out of this total; the remaining one lakh rupees must be refunded interest-free after the firm has been operating for five years. According to CM Sarma, the program was introduced to give young people financial independence and qualify them for more central government loans. According to him, 2,29,145 beneficiaries have registered on the website designed for the program thus far. He added that under the initiative, 15,91 young people with professional degrees will be eligible for a loan of Rs. 5 lakh, of which 50% will be subsidized by the government and the remaining 50% will be an interest-free credit.
