GST Council Hikes Tax On Used EV Car Sales By Businesses

The GST Council has imposed an 18% tax on the margin value of used electric vehicle sales by businesses. It also clarified the tax rates on popcorn: 18% for caramelized, 12% for pre-packed spiced, and 5% for unpacked, unlabeled popcorn. The Council reduced tax on fortified rice kernels for public distribution to 5%, while deferring decisions on insurance and food delivery taxes.
