All schools across Odisha state will remain closed tomorrow, January 17, 2024, due to the inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama Project in Puri city. Meanwhile, the holiday applies to both educational institutions and state government offices. However, the inauguration ceremony rituals have already begun in Puri on January 12.
Earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared the holiday to encourage people to join the opening of the Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor Project in Puri. According to government sources, the inauguration event is likely to attract thousands of devotees from throughout the state. However, the temple administration has sent invitations to guests from 90 religious shrines and institutions across India to join the event.
In fact, the ‘Shree Mandir Parikrama,’ popularly known as the Jagannath Heritage Corridor Project, was completed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC). Now, the project is handed over to the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), and it aims to enhance the visual appeal and surroundings of the iconic Jagannath Temple. Interestingly, the inauguration of this project comes just five days ahead of the Ram Lalla Pran-Pratishtha in Ayodhya on January 22.
