Primitive Humans In Scandinavia Used Animal Skin Boats Around 3500 BC: Study

A recent study suggests that the Pitted Ware Culture (3500–2300 BC) in ancient Scandinavia likely built boats from animal skins, possibly seal hides, for fishing, hunting, and trade. While physical evidence is limited, boat fragments and rock art depicting vessels with harpoon rests support the idea that this Neolithic group was skilled in seafaring, especially in seal hunting.
