Centre Mandates Cyber-Security App To Tackle Phone Theft

The central govt has directed all smartphone manufacturers to pre-install its cyber-security app ‘Sanchar Saathi’ on new devices within 90 days. The app aims to curb cybercrime, theft and IMEI spoofing by enabling users to report stolen phones and verify device authenticity. Companies will also push it to existing phones via updates.
