Astronomers Unveil Sun’s Differential Rotation Using Century-Long Data

Astronomers from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics have successfully mapped the Sun’s chromosphere rotation speed using 100 years of daily records from the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory. This groundbreaking research reveals the Sun’s differential rotation, with speeds of 13.98 degrees per day at the equator and 10.5 degrees per day near the poles, enhancing our understanding of solar dynamics.
