End-to-End Encryption In Instagram DMs Ends Soon

Meta has announced that Instagram will remove the end-to-end encryption feature from Direct Messages (DMs) starting May 8, 2026. The company said very few users use this feature, so it decided to discontinue it. Instagram users are advised to be careful while chatting as the messages will no longer be fully encrypted.
