Every year on February 22nd, people observe ‘World Thinking Day. Meanwhile, the purpose of World Thinking Day is to discover strategies to empower young women and strengthen the link amongst them. Also, the day provides a forum for advancing gender equality and increasing awareness of important global concerns.
The special day offers a chance to collect money for the development of 10 million female guides and scouts worldwide. It is also observed by Scout and Guide organizations all over the world. In fact, the theme of the day is “Our World, Our Thriving Future: The Environment and Global Poverty.”
However, one can trace the history back to 1926. The fourth World Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts was conducted at Camp Edith Macy in New York. During the conference, several delegates from all over the world came to a unanimous decision to declare a day honoring guides and girl scouts on the joint birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, the man who founded the Scout and Guide movement.
