Indian Army Performs Firepower Show ‘Exercise Topchi’ On Army Day
This edition of 'Exrcise Topchi' showcased the integrated employment of firepower and surveillance assets to include guns, mortars, rockets, drones, and aviation assets.
The Indian Army performed the firepower show ‘Exercise Topchi’ on occasion of Army Day today, January 15. In this regard, the Army conducted the firepower demonstration ‘Exercise Topchi’ at Devlali in Nashik, Maharashtra. According to sources, this edition of ‘Exrcise Topchi’ showcased the integrated employment of firepower and surveillance assets to include guns, mortars, rockets, drones, and aviation assets.
The prestigious indigenously developed artillery equipment such as the K-9 Vajra, SP gun system, Dhanush, 105 mm Indian field gun (IFG) and light field gun (LFG) systems, and Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers were showcased in the event as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat. In fact, the K-9 Vajra is a 155-mm, 52-caliber tracked self-propelled artillery system. It was built by Larsen & Toubro with technology transferred from South Korean defence major Hanwha.
Earlier in December 2023, President Droupadi Murmu visited Pokhran and saw a firepower exercise involving intricate fire drills and maneuvers by various weapon platforms. During the event, Murmu also interacted with the soldiers and lauded their commitment and preparedness to defend the country.
