Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde explained the rationale behind his rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, attributing it to the abandonment of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray’s principles.
Speaking at a party gathering in Nagpur on Sunday, Shinde lamented the compromise of Bal Thackeray’s ideology, prompting his departure from the Uddhav-led faction in June 2022. Shinde clarified that his rebellion was not driven by ambition for the chief ministerial post but by a commitment to upholding Bal Thackeray’s legacy.
Criticizing Uddhav’s leadership, Shinde underscored the significance of grassroots engagement for party growth. He urged support for the ruling alliance to secure Narendra Modi’s third term, dismissing the opposition’s developmental agenda.
Shinde also addressed allegations from Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray regarding seat distribution, emphasizing the internal challenges within the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition.
As discussions on seat allocation within the ruling alliance unfold, Shinde expressed confidence in Mahayuti’s victory in Vidarbha.
