Veteran Bengali actor and BJP leader Joy Banerjee died at 62 in Kolkata after battling respiratory illness and diabetes. Known for films like Chopper and Hirak Jayanti, he also contested two Lok Sabha polls with BJP. Despite briefly exiting in 2021, he remained on the party’s state committee. Party members paid tribute at the hospital.
