Taliban Appoints Young Afghan Student As Acting Consul In Mumbai

The Taliban has appointed Ikramuddin Kamil, a young Afghan student pursuing a PhD in law in India, as the Acting Consul at its Mumbai consulate. This marks the first appointment by the Taliban in India since 2021, following India’s withdrawal of diplomatic staff after the Taliban’s takeover. While Kamil is fulfilling consular duties, India has not officially recognized this appointment.
