The Election Commission has appointed senior IPS officer Ajay Kumar Singh as the new DGP of Jharkhand, following the removal of Anurag Gupta due to past election-related misconduct. Singh, a 1989-batch officer, was selected from a panel of three candidates proposed by the state government. Jharkhand is set to hold elections in two phases on November 13 and 20.
