Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is seeking refuge in Russia with his family. However, his wife, Asma, is battling terminal cancer. Asma, who has been suffering from leukemia for some time and her condition is reported to be critical. Assad fled to Russia on Dec 8 due to the ongoing rebellion in Syria.
