Supreme Court To Hear Challenge Against Places Of Worship Act

A special bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna will hear pleas challenging the validity of the 1991 Places of Worship Act, which preserves the status of religious sites as they were on August 15, 1947. The hearing, scheduled for December 12, addresses petitions questioning the Act’s provisions, especially in relation to disputed sites like Gyanvapi and Shahi Idgah mosques.
