TN Congress MP Writes To PM, Asks For Tax Waiver On Gukesh’s Prize Money

Tamil Nadu Congress MP R Sudha wrote to PM Narendra Modi and FM Nirmala Sitharaman, and urged a tax waiver on newly crowned World Chess Champion Dommaraju Gukesh’s prize money. She highlighted the magnitude of Gukesh’s achievement. She pointed out that his tax liability on the prize money of $1.35 million (approximately ₹11.45 crore) amounts to a significant ₹4.8 crore.
