SC Declines Sharjeel Imam’s Bail Plea, Directs High Court To Consider It

Supreme Court declined a writ petition from Sharjeel Imam seeking to expedite his bail hearing in Delhi High Court. However, it directed the High Court to consider Imam’s plea. He is an accused in 2020 Delhi riots case. The apex court said it was not inclined to entertain the plea. But, Imam’s counsel pointed out that his bail plea was filed in April 2022, and faced 64 adjournments in High Court.
