During a discussion in Washington, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the private sector is welcome to operate in India. She noted the presence of numerous non-Indian private insurance companies and private banks already functioning in the country. Referring to the 2021 budget, she stated that the govt specified areas for its involvement but did not restrict private sector entry.
