Maharashtra’s AI CCTV Directive For Bars Draws Strong Opposition From Hoteliers

Hoteliers in Maharashtra have strongly opposed the state govt’s directive to monitor licensed bars with AI-based CCTVs, calling it “draconian” and intrusive. Hotel and Restaurant Association Western India criticized the mandate, which requires around 20,000 liquor vendors to install 24/7 AI-enabled surveillance at entry points, accusing the govt of creating a “police state” without consulting stakeholders.
