As the two-month-long Sabarimala temple season approaches in mid-November, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a review meeting on Saturday, announcing a new initiative to provide free life insurance coverage to all pilgrims. Under this scheme, if a pilgrim dies during the pilgrimage, their family will receive Rs 5 lakh, and arrangements will be made to transport the body home.
