Kejriwal Intentionally Disobeyed Summons; ED Tells Court
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, Arvind Kejriwal, has failed to appear and join the investigation
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener, Arvind Kejriwal, has failed to appear and join the investigation of the now scrapped Delhi Liquor Police case since November 2 last year. The ED put its complaint before the Rouse Avenue Court.
The federal agency stated that Kejriwal, the respondent, was legally required to appear, but he purposefully disregarded the summons issued by the complainant, a public servant, and failed to appear before the investigating officer, also a public servant, in response to the summons.
which is an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code Section 63(4) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED further stated, “To unearth the roles of others, including that of the respondent, in the case.
And also to trace further proceeds of crime, further investigation is ongoing. This led to several requests for an investigation from the respondent, Arvind Kejriwal. He works for the government and is a high-ranking official, thus he must follow the law.
If people of his stature, who are holding such high positions, disobey the law, it will set a wrong example for the common man.” The Rouse Avenue Court took cognizance of the ED’s recent complaint filed against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for not complying with the summons issued by the central probe agency in the Delhi liquor policy money laundering case.
