A Bengaluru court sentenced Karnataka Congress MLA Satish Sail to 7 years in prison for fraud in the Belkeri iron ore case, involving the illegal transport of 11,000 metric tonnes of ore. 6 others received similar sentences. Following the ruling, Sail’s MLA status was revoked under Article 190(3) of the Constitution. The CBI had investigated and charged all accused in this high-profile case.
