Miyazaki Airport in southwestern Japan reopened today morning after a wartime dud shell explosion damaged a taxiway. The blast occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, creating a 7-meter-long, 4-meter-wide, and 1-meter-deep hole. No injuries were reported, but 87 flights were canceled for safety checks. Authorities confirmed the explosion was from a 500-pound bomb from World War II.
