India’s Urban Labor Force Participation Rate Rises To 60.1%

The government reported that India’s urban labor force participation rate (LFPR) rose to 60.1% for July 2023-June 2024, up from 57.9% the previous year. Female LFPR increased from 37% to 41.7%, while male LFPR rose slightly from 78.5% to 78.8%. The worker population ratio (WPR) also improved, with overall unemployment remaining stable at 3.2%.
