Indian banks, led by public sector banks (PSBs), are projected to issue bonds worth Rs 1.2-1.3 lakh crore in FY25, exceeding the previous high of Rs 1.1 lakh crore in FY23. PSBs are expected to account for 82-85% of these issuances, primarily in infrastructure bonds, driven by tight liquidity and strong demand from insurers and provident funds.
