India Seeks Compensation From Turkiye Over Extended Safeguard Measures On Polyester Exports

India has sought compensation from Turkiye following the extension of safeguard measures on polyester staple fibres, which has adversely affected its exports. During WTO consultations, India reported a trade loss, emphasizing its right to propose retaliatory customs duties if the issue remains unresolved. Exports to Turkiye dropped to USD 22.18 million in 2023-24 from USD 23.55 million the previous year.
