Sensex & Nifty End Lower, Mid & Small Caps Outperform

Indian stock markets ended lower amid mixed cues, with the Sensex slipping 245 points to close at 83,382.71 and the Nifty 50 declining 67 points to 25,665.60. Mid and small-cap stocks outperformed, with BSE Midcap and Smallcap gaining 0.16% and 0.25%. The rupee weakened but stayed below 90.30 per dollar. Tata Steel, NTPC and Axis Bank led gains.
