The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea challenging the MHA’s January 28 circular standardising the protocol for India’s national song, Vande Mataram. The bench, led by CJI Surya Kant, said the petition was premature and noted the circular has no penal consequences. The Court advised approaching it only if actual penalties arise.
