The Supreme Court, while hearing petitions on Delhi-NCR’s recurring October air pollution crisis, said jailing some farmers for stubble burning could deter others. The bench stressed that strict action was necessary to tackle the annual smog, caused largely by crop residue burning, which severely impacts air quality and public health across the region.
