A zookeeper was mauled to death by lions at Taigan safari park in Crimea after an enclosure door was left unlocked. Chief zookeeper Leokadia Perevalova, who had worked there for nearly 17 years, died while cleaning a cage with 3 lions. Park owner Oleg Zubkov called the incident a “tragic” mistake, emphasizing that human error contributed to the fatal attack. He praised Perevalova as the “soul of our park.”
