Central Govt Bans Hizb-ut-Tahrir For Extremist Activities

The Central government has banned the Islamic group Hizb-ut-Tahrir, citing its involvement in secret extremist and terrorist activities in the country. The organization was banned under the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act, 1967. This follows previous bans on organizations such as the Popular Front of India and Jamaat-e-Islami, which have been accused of conducting Islamic activities.
