Consumer Court Fines Supermarket For Overcharging On MRP

The Tiruvallur Consumer Court has imposed a fine of ₹15,000 on a supermarket for overcharging a customer ₹18 for guava juice above its Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Raja, the complainant, highlighted that he was charged ₹143 instead of the printed ₹125. The court ordered the supermarket to refund the excess amount and awarded Raja compensation for mental distress and legal costs, totaling ₹15,000.
