Delhi HC Lifts Import Ban On Salman Rushdie’s Book After 36 Years

The Delhi High Court has lifted the import ban on Salman Rushdie’s controversial novel The Satanic Verses, closing the 2019 petition filed by Sandipan Khan. The court ruled that the 1988 notification banning the book, cited by the government, could not be produced, thus deeming it nonexistent. The petitioner had sought permission to import the book from international e-commerce platforms.
