Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Against CBI Probe Into TN Hooch Tragedy

Supreme Court upheld Madras High Court’s order to transfer Kallakurichi hooch tragedy case to CBI. The apex court dismissed Tamil Nadu government’s petition challenging the order. The tragedy occurred in June this year resulted in 67 deaths due to illicit liquor consumption. The top court said that High Court’s decision was a well-reasoned judgment, and dismissed the special leave petitions.
