Supreme Court Summons Allahabad HC Judge Over ‘Majority’ Remark

The Supreme Court Collegium summoned Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of Allahabad High Court over his remarks endorsing the Uniform Civil Code and stating laws should follow the “majority’s wish” at a VHP event. His comments, widely criticized as divisive and unconstitutional, led to calls for impeachment by 55 opposition MPs. The Collegium, led by CJI Sanjeev Khanna, will deliberate on Dec 17.
