Indian markets closed lower on Tuesday as profit booking and worries over potential US tariffs on Indian rice weighed on sentiment. Sensex fell 436 points to 84,666, while Nifty slipped 121 points to 25,840. IT, auto and financial stocks declined, while midcap and smallcap indices gained modestly. Only HUL and Airtel ended in the green.
