The Marburg Virus Disease, also known as the “bleeding eye virus,” is caused by the Marburg virus and has a fatality rate of 50%. It spreads through bat-to-human or human-to-human contact with bodily fluids. Symptoms include fever, headache, diarrhea, and hemorrhaging. There’s no specific antiviral treatment, but only rehydration. Preventive measures include protective clothing and patient isolation.
