Assam Renames Karimganj as “Sribhumi”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Karimganj district in the state would be renamed to Sribhumi to honor Rabindranath Tagore. “Over a 100 years ago, Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore described modern day Karimganj in Assam as ‘Sribhumi’- the land of Maa Lakshmi. Today Assam Cabinet has fulfilled this long standing demand of our people,” the Chief Minister posted on X.
